The governor of Callao, Ciro Castillo, spoke out for the first time from hiding and assured that he was not aware of the investigation against him in the case called Los Socios del Callao, for which the Judiciary ordered 15 days of preventive detention.
Throughout his message, he assured that he was not aware of the investigation against him, a fact that “deprives him” of knowing the content of the accusation. “(This fact) coerces, cuts, is against my freedom. It attacks my reputation and image and causes disorder in the public administration of my administration,” he said.
He also dedicated himself to disqualifying the investigation carried out by the Callao Prosecutor’s Office. “The prosecutor of the Third Corruption Chamber of Callao sends the file to Lima for consultation and there it reaches the Organized Crime Chamber and returns the file because they consider that it has no basis for that crime and when it arrives in Callao my arrest is ordered and accused of organized crime.”
Why is Ciro Castillo being investigated?
The Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the Directorate against Corruption (Dircocor) of the National Police of Peru (PNP), carried out a raid on the home of the regional governor of Callao, Ciro Castillo, early this Monday, December 15, as part of a mega-operation within the framework of the investigations of the ‘Los Socios del Callao’ case. The tax proceedings also cover another 26 properties linked to officials and contractors of the Gore del Callao.
