After the annulment of preventive detention in the ‘Los Socios del Callao’ case, Ciro Castillo Rojo announced that he will resume his duties today as regional governor of the Shut up.
His lawyer, Humberto Abanto, stated that there is no legal impediment for the official to resume his position and maintained that the substitution exercised by the regional vice governor should cease immediately.
However, the situation could be complicated because the National Police have indicated that there is still a current charge against Castillo Rojo, which generates uncertainty about his return.
The ‘Los Socios del Callao’ case continues under investigation, while expectations remain regarding the development of judicial and political actions in the region in the coming hours.
Interim governor would prevent him from returning to office
The interim regional governor of Callao, Edita Vargas, assured that Ciro Castillo Rojo will not be allowed to resume her duties. He pointed out that the Regional Council must evaluate the legal situation of the official and determine if his reinstatement to the position is appropriate.
The regional authority maintained that Castillo Rojo was not absent due to leave or travel, but rather due to an ongoing judicial process, which is why it considered that his eventual return must be analyzed from a criminal, civil and administrative point of view.
In addition, he warned that allowing his entry into the Regional Government could affect ongoing investigations.
Vargas indicated that he requested support from the National Police given the possibility that Castillo may try to enter the Regional Government headquarters by force, which could generate a scenario of institutional tension in the coming hours.
