This Wednesday, June 08, the auction of the central house of the recently defunct Casa de Galicia was held, a mutual society which the National Justice ordered to cease operations in December due to an acute economic crisis. The auction process began after 3:00 p.m. and two bids were submitted to this. On the one hand, the mutual insurance companies Universal and Cudam made a joint offer, and on the other hand, the Círculo Católico stuccoed, who finally kept the building after presenting an offer for 15,300,000 million dollars.
The president of the Catholic Circle, Cecilia López, indicated that the building will be used for “sanatorical purposes, both for our institution and for the system.” Likewise, she announced that they will make a request to start up the Institute of Highly Specialized Medicine (IMAE).
growth challenge
“We have the challenge of growth in the area. With this, what we intend is that this great sanatorium complex serves the Circle, serves the entire system and can preserve the IMAE that are also necessary for the system, ”he said.
The initial price of the auction was 12,750,000 dollars and the company in charge of the auction process was Bavastro Remate. The act took place in the Stock Market. This was attended by the manager of Legal Services of the Trade Defense League (Lideco), Fernando Cabrera. Precisely the latter was the trustee of Casa de Galicia during the process before and after its closure.
“Tomorrow we are going to sit down and work on that project. We as an institution are 137 years old, we are a mutual just like Casa de Galicia was. We have plans that have been coming for a long time. In some way, the closure of Casa de Galicia modified some of the strategies that our institution had been following, because it clearly changed the system and we received 18,000 members. With this, our mass of associates grew rapidly”, said López.
