The dean of the College of Engineers of Peru, of the Departmental Council of Piura, Hermer Alzamora, said that criminal gangs They have been threatening to kill construction companies and workers in the various projects being carried out in the region if they are not paid their dues.
Alzamora lamented the death of engineers Kevin Palacios Zapata and Fabián Cabrera Nima, who were shot dead in Sullana. He indicated that several professionals feel threatened by criminal gangs.

“The latest events (the murders of both engineers) have fully exposed the problem of citizen insecurity that we currently experience, especially in the construction sector, due to the problems of clashes between criminal gangs that charge fees to construction companies and threaten the lives of construction workers,” said the College of Engineers of Peru, CD Piura.
He also called for immediate action from the authorities. “We demand that local, regional and national authorities involved in public safety ensure the safety of our professional engineers and of all those involved in the execution of works and services in our region, as well as the safety of citizens in general,” he said in a statement.
