The Cinematheque of Cuba today announced the making of a series of films starring Daisy Granados as a tribute to the outstanding actress for her eight decades of life, starting on December 21.
Under the title Daisy portraits, the screening of six films underscores the prolific career of the interpreter, who has given life to characters such as Lucía, Teresa or Cecilia in classics of the Cuban filmographyaccording to a report by the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

The exhibitions will last until the 25th of this month in rooms 23 and 12 of the Cuban capital and aim to “tour that gallery of genuine portraits embodied by an actress as ductile as her,” said the director of the institution, Luciano Castillo.
The program has reserved for the opening the film memories of underdevelopmentdirected by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea in 1968, with Granados playing the role of Elena, the girl who has relations with Sergio (Sergio Corrieri), a bourgeois aspiring writer who decides to stay in Cuba despite the fact that his wife and friends have left to Miami after the triumph of the Revolution.
Also included in the selection is the tape Lucy (1969) and Cecilia (1981), by Humberto Solás; From the war american (1969) and Theresa portrait (1979), by Pastor Vega and The loneliness of the office manager by Rigoberto López (1989).
Cataloged as The Face of Cuban Cinema, Granados made his film debut in 1964 with the film The decision.Since then he has acted in more than twenty film productions and other television projects.
Throughout his career he has garnered important recognitions such as the Lucía de Honor award, the National Film Award (2007) and the Medal for National Culture, among other awards at international events, recalls the outlet.
