Today, October 18, the celebration of World Guitar Day began in Cienfuegos. The event returns after its interruption in 2019, although the segment corresponding to the contest took place online.
According to concert performer Arianna Cuéllar, the meeting constitutes a party for Cuban students of that instrument.
The event has an international jury, Cuéllar pointed out that it is a contest aimed at elementary level guitar students in Cuban schools.
In its first four editions, the sample has grown and achieved great results, said Cuéllar, who pointed out the high professional rigor of the participants.
The prizes will be awarded at the closing of the festival, this time dedicated to Edgardo Martín (1915-2004). The figure of Celedonio Romero (1913-1996), a world-famous Spanish performer born in Cienfuegos, a little-known fact, will also be highlighted.
UNESCO celebrated World Guitar Day for the first time last year, an initiative of the Greek guitarist, composer and teacher Yorgos Foudoulis.
