A group of students from the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) went yesterday to the headquarters of the National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt) to reiterate their demand that José Antonio Romero Tellaeche be removed from the leadership of that study center and start a public and open dialogue with the authorities.
Taking advantage of an act with inhabitants of San Salvador Atenco, on the occasion of the declaration of a Protected Natural Area in the area of Lake Texcoco, a dozen young people -who said they represented classmates who could not attend because they were in class- He showed up around 10:30 am at the Insurgentes Sur 1582 building and shouted slogans against the director of CIDE.
Similarly, the students performed a performance, which consisted of placing a small mound of organic compost on one side of the building’s entrance, and on top of it a series of signs –printed on paper with the figure of a pig– where they wrote what they considered the big mistakes
of this administration in matters of science and technology.
Eduardo Muñiz, a CIDE master’s student, explained that upon learning of the presence of the head of Conacyt, Elena Álvarez-Buylla, at the event on Lake Texcoco, a delegation of students decided to go to the site to once again demand the beginning of an open dialogue about the opposition to the arrival of Romero Tellaeche as director.
