A brutal femicide shocked La Atlántida Avenue in Catia La Mar this Saturday where Rossana Alejandra Hernández Mayora (44), a stylist and mother of a child, lost her life after being shot in the face allegedly at the hands of her ex-partner, who, as it turned out, is a police officer and would not have accepted the end of the relationship.
The events occurred in the vicinity of the Atlantic Plaza shopping center. According to preliminary information, Julio César Salazar Villalba (46) would have intercepted the woman and fired at least one shot at her at point-blank range, causing her death almost instantly.
Officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) went to the scene to attend to the emergency. During the procedure, an armed confrontation occurred between the officers and the alleged murderer, who was injured and was taken under custody to the Dr. Alfredo Machado Popular Clinic to receive medical attention. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh.

Once stabilized, Salazar Villalba was taken to the Caraballeda checkpoint where he remains detained. It is expected that in the next few hours he will be presented to the Public Ministry to be charged with the crime of femicide.
Officials from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) took charge of the proceedings at the scene of the crime, while the Prosecutor’s Office began investigations to clarify exactly the circumstances and motive behind the incident.
