He Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (CICPC) denied fake news from sectors of the opposition and reported this Friday that the political activist of the Voluntad Popular party, a citizen Edwin Alexander Santos Quiñónez36 years old, died as a result of a traffic accident after the motorcycle he was driving hit a tree, on the main road via El Nula, adjacent to the Arenosa Bridge, Alberto Adriani parish, Fernández Feo municipality, Táchira state.

In addition, they interviewed the victim’s relatives, who confirmed to the police authorities that he worked on that same road and resided in El Piñal. Relatives reported that they did not know his whereabouts since last Wednesday, October 23, in the afternoon.
By denying and rejecting all the false news given by some media outlets and interested spokespeople, who try to manipulate by holding the National Government responsible for this death, the director of the Investigation Corps, Douglas Rico, reported on its social networks that it has received instructions from the Ministry of Popular Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace (Mpprijp), to open an investigation into those who are carrying out these campaigns of disinformation and lies.
It is worth noting that several international news portals cited alleged statements by his relatives to regional media that Santos was placed in a van last Wednesday and since that day they lost communication with him.
Even the far-right party Voluntad Popular blamed the Government for the unfortunate event and pointed out alleged signs of torture on Santos’ lifeless body. Likewise, the leader of the extremist opposition María Corina Machado echoed the false news with a publication on her social networks.
