The Cibao Association was selected as winner in the fifth edition of Catalog of Promising Practices for his Financial Inclusion Program and the banking carried out in the communities of Burende and Constanza, La Vega province.
The main objective of the program was generate capabilities in the population to improve financial habitsunderstanding basic principles of finance that guarantee adequate continuous management of financial resources and facilitate the access to services banking.
Jose Luis Venturaexecutive president of Cibao Associationindicated that the program was managed from the Inclusion Unit of Association and was composed of workshops education and days of bankingunder a methodology adapted from “Financial Inclusion Model” implemented by the UNDP office in Mexico.

“In line with our corporate philosophywhich promotes the commitment to sustainable development, and in harmony with the national strategy of financial inclusion, we decided to implement this pilot program in communities where we have a brand presence. We believe that this initiative strengthens capabilities in financial education, promotes the banking of vulnerable populations and contributes to transforming lives and communities,” said the executive, stated in the press release sent by the institution.
The pilot of the Financial Inclusion Program was developed in eight communities of the La Vega province, from November 2022 to February 2024. Among the most relevant results are: the opening of 118 new accounts savings during the program, of which are maintained 101 active accountswith accumulated deposits amounting to RD$411,659.04 as of September 2025; the banking of 55 participants and the realization of 12 workshops of financial education that added 216 hours training and benefited 301 people.
Furthermore, the initiative contributed to promoting the autonomy and the economic empowerment of 243 women.

He Catalog of Promising Practicesdeveloped by the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) and the UNDP, recognizes innovative initiatives with social impact and sustainable approach. Program selection Cibao Association evidences his relevance and its contribution to strengthening financial inclusion models in the country.
