Santiago de los Caballeros.– The orange team of Cibao FC defeated Moca FC 3-0 and thus qualified for the final of the tenth season of the Dominican Football League.
This is the fourth consecutive time that Cibao FC has qualified for the LDF final, after winning the return match against Moca FC at the PUCMM university campus.
The goals came, first from Dairin Gonzalez, in the 12th minute, then in the 48th, with a header from Rivaldo Correa and finally Juan David Díaz scored in the 87th.
Thus Cibao FC returns to the final and will await the winner of the other semi-final between the Atlético Pantoja club and the Universidad O&M FC.
Development of the return match between Cibao FC and Moca FC
In a spectacular setting and with the new natural grass of the PUCMM stadium, the people of Santiago and Moca fought hard for a ticket to the tournament final. The first half was intense, with the black and gold team having possession of the ball, but Cibao being pragmatic and lethal in set pieces.
The first goal of the match came from a corner kick by Juan David Díaz. Jean Carlos López headed the cross and the good Mocano goalkeeper Odalis Báez blocked it, but the central defender Dairin González took advantage of the rebound to make it one-nil at point-blank range. That’s how the first half ended, with the advantage for Santiago by the minimum.
At the restart of the game the script changed, as the home team came out determined to increase their lead and the second goal came in the forty-eighth minute, with a combined play between Luismi Quezada and Montes de Oca that was scored with certainty by top scorer Rivaldo Correa for his twenty-first goal of the tournament.
After the home team’s second goal, Moca FC tried with more heart than order and on several occasions they put the eternal Miguel Lloyd to work hard.
To close the curtain, Colombian Juan David Díaz scored a true goal from more than twenty-five meters away to set the final score in the semifinal against the Mocanos. After the victory, Cibao FC awaits the winner between the Atlético Pantoja club and the university students of OyM FC, who will define their series this Sunday at the Panamericano stadium in San Cristóbal.
