Ricardo Gago, president of the Association of Friends of the Churches of the Old Town (Caica), detailed the religious activities for Holy Week in the temples that are part of the Old Town and the beginning of the tour of the seven churches.

Gago’s first recommendation is that people should arrive early at the cathedral, as capacity is limited. “We’ve had full churches, full restaurants, and many people benefit,” he said.

He explained that this Holy Thursday, the tradition is to visit the 7 churches. “All the churches in Casco Antiguo were open today at 6am and we are going to close at 1am tomorrow, Friday. Tonight, at the Iglesia de la Merced, the Holy Thursday procession begins, which will cover from the streets of the Old Town and ends at approximately 9:30pm in the Plaza de la Independencia”.

It should be noted that this Good Friday, the monuments will be exposed.
