Santo Domingo.- Taking into account that the country needs unity, tranquility and assuming responsibility more than ever, the coadjutor archbishop of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo He urged the population to live Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a true Christian sense and focused on the family.
Leading a homily at the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo, Carlos Tomás Morel also called on Dominicans to practice solidarity, communion and live in unity with their neighbors.
During the mass celebrated at the Santa María de la Annunciación University Parish, the religious advocated that at Christmas people do not focus on material things, but rather remember that it is a time of personal and common reflection.
He urged each citizen to evaluate their social commitment and help the well-being of the country.
It meant that these celebrations must be lived in a family environment, avoiding conflicts that alter peace and social tranquility.
“The birth of the Child Jesus calls us to bear witness to seriousness and responsibility, especially before children and adolescents,” commented the religious in the ceremony attended by the main authorities of the UCSD, professors and personalities.
Especially to public and private officials, the religious asked them to assume their role with greater awareness, highlighting the need for an honest and responsible service, in a year marked by allegations of corruption. Likewise, he regretted the situation of SeNaSa, pointing out that the denial of health services has caused helplessness and great pain in Dominicans.
Morel Diplán demanded that citizens avoid celebrations in the streets and not drive under the influence of alcohol, to prevent tragedies and protect their own lives and those of others.
The coadjutor archbishop invited us to stop, open our hearts and prepare the way of the Lord with living hope, in the middle of the desert of routines, because God continues to meet each one and wants to renew everything!
