Monsignor Sergio Gualberti presided over Sunday mass in the Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo from where warned about the possible rebound in covid cases during the Carnival festivities. The prelate asks the population for consistency in the face of the crowds that can “cause a serious danger of the spread of contagion.”
During the homily, Gualberti noted that “healthy recreation is replaced and rest days because of the drunkenness, the fights and the unrestrained commotion”. And he calls on Catholics to maintain the biosecurity measures that have been in place for almost two years.
The Dominican message from the Archbishop of Santa Cruz also targeted other aspects of current coexistence so lacking in values. “There is little talk of human and Christian values,” he said. the public stage is framed in a “revenge speech” is cultivated and uses false truths, lies and persecution in order to ruin the adversaries”.
A message has been imposed that “is heard relentlessly with words of resentment and hatred against those who think differently or consider themselves enemies,” the prelate described.
Faced with this situation of lack of values, the Church summons everyone to reverse these scenarios and be an example of living in values ”particularly those of us who are called to serve others as authority.
