The twenty people who went on a spiritual retreat since last August 22 to the mountains of La Grita (Táchira), belong to the Charismatic Movement that lives in the Catholic Church, according to statements by the Bishop of San Cristóbal (Táchira), Mario Moronta .
“The fact that they are all religious people who have been linked to the church…but you cannot say that the Charismatic Renewal apostolate group are the ones who are organizing this type of thing,” Moronta told regional media.
For his part, the director of Táchira Civil Protection, Yernardo Canal, said that the search scheme is maintained by La Grita villages located in the Páramo Sur: San José de Olivar, Palanque, Osorio, Llanepes and Las Porteras, among others.
“We are using a female canine named Luna, for search and rescue and a drone,” explained the director of Civil Protection.
A group from the Cicpc joined the search efforts, reported Commissioner Douglas Rico on the Instagram account.
Rico explained that they received the complaint through social networks.
The group of Christians went to the spiritual retreat in two vehicles: an F-350 truck and a Toyota Land Cruiser, Rico highlighted in the publication.
“The Cicpc, together with the citizen security agencies of the Tachiren entity, have carried out an intense search to find their location,” explained Rico.
