With the new distribution factor for the Margarita-Huacaya field, confirmed by the consulting firm DeGolyer and MacNaughton, the Government of Chuquisaca It will go from receiving about Bs 46 million monthly for royalties, when before it received between Bs 20 and 25 million.

YoVan ReynagaSecretary of Hydrocarbons and Mines of the Government of Chuquisaca, indicated that they celebrate the confirmation of the new distribution factor, something that will double the royalty income received by the department.

Reynaga stressed that, despite some observations in favor of the region, there is satisfaction for the results achieved and for the defense of natural resources, a task that was commissioned by the governor, Damián Condori.

The calculations of the study presented this Friday, August 26, 2022, by DeGolyer and MacNaughton indicate that 53.18% of the shared reservoir H1b+H1c+Icla B of the Margarita-Huacaya field belongs to Chuquisaca and the remaining 46.82% to Tarija.

Reynaga remarked that now It is the task of the Government to know how to administer the new resources, thinking of the generations to come. so from now on they are going to design a new economic model that allows them to make the best use of these income from royalties.

For his part, the governor of Tarija, Oscar Montes, he was resigned and indicated that with the confirmation of the report the department will have fewer resources for the exploitation of the Margarita-Huacaya field.

According to calculations by the Government of Tarija, with the new studytheir income from the exploitation of the shared field will fall by 11%.

Montes clarified that they do not lose everything, rather, less money will be received than has been received until now.

It’s something we have to start getting used to. because the trend, as long as there is no discovery of new reservoirs in the department, is that each year income from hydrocarbon royalties is lower”, said the authority, to the newspaper El País.
