SANTO DOMINGO. – The Minister of the Interior and Police affirmed this Sunday that under no circumstances will the Government allow crime to take control of Villa Mella and assured that the authorities will spare no effort to maintain order and peace in Santo Domingo Norte.
In this sense, Jesús Vásquez Martínez (Chu) announced as immediate actions to control crime the increase in police patrols and anti-narcotics agents in North Santo Domingo.
He added that other measures that will contribute to guaranteeing peace and security in Villa Mella will be the lighting of the streets and that for such purposes the IPM will provide 400 light bulbs.
“All these actions that we are implementing will serve as the basis for the others that will be applied when we put into operation on November 3 the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy “My Safe Country”, which regardless of these isolated events was included in the work scheme Interior and Police,” he said.
Speaking to the citizens during a work session of the Security, Citizenship and Gender Table of Santo Domingo Norte, held at the Mayor’s Office, the official said that there is a diagnosis of the problem and that as of November 3 The measures for a definitive solution to these problems will be applied, because they will be concrete actions at the different levels.
“We are already coordinating with Edeeste to guarantee the energy and lighting of the municipality and the Ministry of the Interior and Police will contribute 400 luminaires to start work from this Monday,” he said.

He considered that the intervention is not only the prosecution of crime, so in addition to enlightening the sectors, work will be done on the incorporation of the Government’s social programs so that they reach the most needy, and in this way help to return the peace and development to the municipality.
He assured that the government will be supporting all the measures that will be implemented in North Santo Domingo, in coordination with local authorities and representatives of public institutions.
He explained that the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and the National Police will incorporate greater presence and surveillance in the neighborhoods, the doctors of the body of order will also be working on preventive health starting this week, General Janet Jiménez will work on the issue of violence against women, among other measures.
“The issue is how we build a society based on values and we are going to start a process so that the new generations rise up with established norms for healthy citizen coexistence. The family is obliged to support the initiatives that the Government will implement in North Santo Domingo, because children, adolescents and young people are the product of what they see their parents do and the training they give them, ”he said.
He warned that some measures have been taken, but that, if necessary, they will adopt all the actions that are required, because the community can be sure that the authorities will spare no effort to maintain order and peace in North Santo Domingo.
“Count on us, because we will be here permanently, as will Deputy Minister Aníbal Amparo, the team from the Ministry of the Interior, the National Police, the DNCD, and our pulse will not tremble to do what has to be done,” he concluded.
Mayor calls for unity in Villa Mella
Mayor Carlos Guzmán valued the unity of the representative sectors of Santo Domingo Norte in the Security, Citizenship and Gender Table, reminding them that they have already overcome other crises such as the one in April 2020 with the fires at the Duquesa landfill and everything what the pandemic implied, so this situation now will not be the exception.
He urged the community to work as a team, “because the good ones in Santo Domingo Norte are more.”
He warned that what they have achieved cannot be left to fall, that they must continue fighting for cleanliness, security and progress, for which the Security, Citizenship and Gender Roundtable of North Santo Domingo declared a permanent session until the results of actions being taken.
Also participating in the meeting of the Local Table for Security, Citizenship and Gender held at the Santo Domingo Norte City Hall were the director of the National Police, Eduardo Alberto Then; and the governor of the Santo Domingo province, Altagracia Julia Drullard.
In addition, the deputies Alex Lara and Betty Gerónimo, the prosecutor Milcíades Guzmán, as well as the deputy ministers of the Interior and Police Aníbal Amparo, Ángela Jáquez, Jesús Féliz, and the commissioner for Police Reform, José – Pepe-Vila, among other authorities and representatives of hundreds of representative organizations of the municipality.
