Regarding the bonus cards, the report indicated that the Parliament purchased 4,500 electronic cards with a unit value of S/1,900, which represents a total expense of S/8.55 million. These will be distributed among trusted personnel, plant workers and legislators.
Likewise, the cards meet a series of requirements. They must be valid for a minimum of one year from their activation, they must have security devices to prevent counterfeiting and they must be used for purchases and consumption nationwide. In addition, the contractor must have a 24-hour customer service center via telephone and email.
“Another sleigh feast and by a congress that has shown very little, if not no attachment to principles of austerity such as those that the country certainly requires. We see a Christmas card for 1900 soles for this last Christmas of its five-year parliamentary period and it is surprising that it has not even had in this last day, a minimal gesture of austerity is a congress with its back to the country,” commented analyst Iván García.
Congressmen reject questions
When consulted by Cuarto Poder, the parliamentarians were satisfied with the amount they will earn in December. Congressman Jorge Montoya said: “It’s fine to call for austerity, but that would have to cover all sectors.” Meanwhile, Kathy Ugarte: “I would say that the population sometimes feels a little bad and reasonable. Everyone receives their bonus at the national level,” she said.
