will be wet and the Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed the Puerto Plata province on red alert, while keeping María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, Espaillat and Samaná on yellow.
Heavy downpours have been recorded in Puerto Plata in recent hours, and the same intensity is expected to continue at least until this Tuesday, Christmas Eve.
Civil protection organizations have reported flooding of rivers and streams, which have left several communities cut off, both in the east of the province and the west.

Another 12 demarcations, including the National District, appear in green, according to the COE in the report at 6:00 pm on Monday.
Also in green are Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, La Vega Monseñor Nouel, Santiago de los Caballeros, Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Juan Sánchez Ramírez and La Altagracia.
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) predicted that rainfall will extend this Tuesday towards Peravia, San Juan, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís and San Cristóbal.
