More than 19 thousand police officers and the Armed Forces will patrol the streets starting today, after the Ministry of the Interior and Police launches the Christmas 2024 Peace Guarantee Operation
At the event, led by President Luis Abinader and the director of the uniformed service, Minister Faride Raful highlighted the participation of more than 15 thousand police officers and 4,440 from the Armed Forces during the Christmas festivities.
“New men and women who are involved in this great project to restructure a National Police that seeks to be closer to citizens, serving and protecting, as is our new motto,” he said.
He stated that to guarantee peace it is necessary to defend citizen rights, respect them and the due process of approaching people, but also involve the population in respecting the laws and fulfilling their duties to respect the rights of others.
He explained that from the government chaired by Luis Abinader, enormous efforts are being made for social cohesion between the State institutions responsible for order and citizenship.
“We are beginning to change, we are taking the first steps,” said Minister Raful when delivering some emotional words during the ceremony on the esplanade of the National Police Palace.

While the director of the Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, 15 thousand men belong to the entity he directs and 4 thousand to the military institutions.
He assured that the uniforms will be equipped with video surveillance cameras to transmit their actions in real time, a new institutional type logo, non-lethal weapons; as well as trucks and engines.
He stated that the institution he directs will guarantee citizen security so that the population can enjoy the Christmas festivities in an environment full of peace, joy and trust.
“We have the mission of protecting every citizen, especially this Christmas season with well-trained agents to guarantee their safety in every corner of the country,” he said.
He added that within the framework of the police reform promoted by President Abinader, they are taking firm steps towards a Police that is closer to the people, transparent and effective.
“Our goal is to build a sincere bond with our citizens, strengthening trust based on the work provided by the agents who will be reinforcing security tasks,” he said.

He highlighted that the institution will have a new image with the incorporation of new agents, trained under modern standards as society has been demanding.
He said that the command control centers operate 24 hours a day, providing immediate attention through direct and accessible communication channels to be aware of any developments that may occur and provide a quick and effective response.
“As evidence of the commitment to police transformation and reform that President Luis Abinader assumed, at this moment we are receiving an equipped vehicle fleet that will allow us to make the service that we must provide to the population more efficient,” he said.
