«Faith should not be used to restrict women’s potential, but rather to encourage them to fulfill their vocations, whether in the home, church, classrooms, or leadership spaces.«said the Alliance.
Likewise, she highlighted that, far from being a cause of family neglect, the need for women to work outside the home responds to the difficult economic realities that many families face. In this sense, they highlighted that, unfortunately, it is women who most often have to face the difficult decision of balancing caring for their children with the need to work to guarantee the economic survival of their households.
The Alliance cited several biblical passages to support its position. They mentioned Ephesians 5:21, which advocates mutual submission between spouses, suggesting that men and women share responsibility for the home and family. Likewise, they highlighted Proverbs 31:10-31, which describes a woman who successfully balances her work and family life. Although this text does not present an equivalent balance for men, they consider that it dismantles the idea that women’s success necessarily implies neglect of the home.

In addition, the organization called for recognition that caring for children and the home is a shared responsibility between both parents, not just the mother. This vision of shared responsibility seeks to disprove the idea that men are exempt from assuming their role in raising and caring for the home, promoting equity and justice.
Regarding the family structure in the Dominican Republic, the Alliance recalled that more than 86% of births in 2023 were to single mothers, which reflects a reality of non-nuclear homes. They highlighted that, in this context, the need for women to participate in the workplace does not respond to a whim, but to the need to support their families, given the difficult economic situation of the country, where many families struggle to make ends meet. of month.
«The entry of women into the world of work is not the main cause of family problems; rather, it is a response to a lack of resources. In fact, many women do it to offer a better quality of life to their children, which is related to paternal irresponsibility in many cases.«, they pointed out.
Finally, the Dominican Christian Alliance reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive and liberating faith that values the role of women in all its dimensions, inside and outside the home. The organization, which was founded in 2017, is made up of people from various Christian traditions, including Catholics, Baptists, Episcopalians, Methodists and Pentecostals, and continues to promote the values of equality and justice in society.
