A total of 6,400 boxes of MD2 pineapple have been shipped by sea and 600 boxes by air to Spain, through four containers with biological inspections, managed through the companies Rid Trading Grupo SA Grupo RyM SA Frunets SL and Capexo SA, packed at LV Farms.
According to the director of the Ministry of Agricultural Development in Region 5, of Western Panama, Raquildo Domínguez, the MD2 pineapple is a distinguished product of La Chorrera. He added that two inspections were carried out for PROMAGRO certification (Program for the Promotion and Modernization of Agriculture and Agroindustrial) in the Field of the Capitan Piña Companies, with 21 hectares in production and development, and the BH Fruits farm with one hectare in production.
Domínguez highlights that the technical assistance was provided by the MIDA Agency of La Chorrera, under the guidelines of Regional #5 West Panama.
He explained that, from January to July 2022, some 62,977 boxes have been exported by air to the European and Asian markets and 349,080 by sea, the same for Europe and Asia.
Some 27 producers from Las Yayas, La Colorada, Arosemena, Potrero Grande, Los Corozales, El Trapichito, El Jobo, Llanito Verde, La Arenosa, La Zanguenga, Mendoza, El Zahino and Los Hules, cultivate 825.2 hectares of pineapple.
The MD2 pineapple is a fruit with the greatest acceptance worldwide. The fruit has a more symmetrical and uniform shape.
Pineapple exports in Western Panama have represented, from February to May 2022, the sum of 3,021,554 balboas.
