Keep an eye out. On October 2, regional and municipal elections will be held to elect the authorities for the next 4 years. For this reason, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) will implement the option ‘Choose your polling place’ this Sunday, May 15 through its official platform.
In this note you will be able to know all the details and steps to be able to choose your polling place without any problem and thus be able to vote in the 2022 elections.
The purpose of ONPE is that the more than 24 million citizens in the country can vote in the fastest way and closest to their homes for next October 2, the day of the regional and municipal elections on October 2.

Choose your polling place, step by step
It is important that each citizen of legal age considered within the electoral roll, choose their closest polling place to their home, this, as long as they have not changed their address on the DNI until after October 2, 2021.
In this note we will leave all the steps you must follow to choose your polling place for the 2022 elections:
- The citizen must enter the Choose your polling place platform and click Start. Then you must enter your DNI number, the DNI verification digit and specify the day, month and year of birth.
- The Terms and Conditions of Use must be read and accepted to continue. Immediately, some identity validation alternative must be chosen. If personal questions are chosen, these must be answered correctly, before pressing the Continue button.
- Then you must enter the email and do it a second time to confirm the data. Next, you must enter your cell phone number and inform if you have any disability, which will allow you to receive preferential attention at the polling place. Then select the Continue button.
- The citizen will receive an email that must be confirmed to verify the registration. Then press the Confirm email address button, after which you must press the Choose your polling place button. Then, by pressing the button, the selection will begin. The voter is recommended to choose the preferred polling places within their district and do so in the order of their preference. Press the Save button and then the Yes button to continue. It is necessary to press the Yes button to save the chosen polling places. It must be specified that the order of priority of the polling places can be modified and even some can be changed. At the end, the chosen polling places will be received by mail.
It is important that each person choose their polling place as it will facilitate the assignment of polling places close to the voters’ homes.
Choose your polling place on the website or app
It is worth mentioning that on this occasion, citizens will be able to choose their voting location through https://eligetulocal.onpe.gob.pe/ or also through the ONPE app.
When using the application, options of premises located within the district that appears in the National Identity Document (DNI) will be presented, unless the citizen has changed their address in said document after October 2, 2021, which was when closed the register used in the organization of the elections.
It will not be possible to select a place in a district other than the one contained in this list, since the process includes the election of mayors and district and provincial councillors.
Based on the selection (maximum three) made by each citizen, the electoral body will determine the voting center to which they must go to elect their subnational authorities.
The current version of the platform offers three different ways to choose the three locations, by entering the website electyourlocal.onpe.gob.pe. or also using the mobile web version. There, identity can be verified through facial recognition, using a cell phone camera, as long as it meets the minimum requirements.
Choose your voting location via Telegram
Another alternative to select the premises is to use the Telegram chatbot, which also allows facial identification. And the third option is the desktop version of the website. In the latter case, the identity of the voter is verified through key questions
Until when can I choose my polling place?
In recent electoral processes, ONPE has made this application available to citizens. For the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, it has been updated and will be available from 12:00 a.m. on May 15 until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022.
