The former Sandinista combatant, originally from Estelí, was accused along with the Nicaraguan Franklin Amador Salgado, 52, who has a history as an alleged drug trafficker in the department, released by the same court when no evidence was found, according to journalistic reports from 2017.

In the indictment filed in May, Sáenz and Amador were accused of crimes against public health and public safety in Nicaragua. Prosecutor Alicia Solís was in charge of presenting the accusation and the case was referred to Judge Nalia Nadezha Úbeda Obando, who has sentenced political prisoners.

The sentence was handed down by Judge Ángel Jeancarlos Fernández, another executioner of political prisoners who had already found Chino Enoc guilty on all three charges.

The defense lawyer of “El Chino Enoc” and Salgado’s private lawyer filed an appeal against the sentence against his client.

El Chino Enoc is a sympathizer of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) who has sworn allegiance to the dictator Daniel Ortega. He was a Sandinista guerrilla in 1979, in Condega, Estelí. In an interview with the Sunday magazine of the newspaper La Prensa, Chino Enoc confessed to having served as a paramilitary of the dictatorship to suppress the social protests that began in April 2018 that left more than 300 murdered.

However, on different occasions, Chino Enoc criticized and rejected Rosario Murillo, Ortega’s wife who holds the Vice Presidency of the Republic, whom he accuses of being a “usurper” who has stolen the party.

Two days before his arrest, on May 16, Chino Enoc had denounced on his social networks the siege by the Police, to the point that they would not even let him leave his house, for which reason he declared himself a prisoner at that time. under house arrest.

At the beginning of October, one of the sons of the Sandinista militant denounced, through the Facebook account Marlon Saenzthat the judicial process was “unfair” due to the numerous anomalies that arose.

“This has been a great injustice as much as it has been so egregious and heartbreaking for us and more so for him. He continues in his heart to be a Sandinista, mainly he wants his people to know and be convinced that he is not a criminal, that they know that none of the accusations are real, and mainly that if he were to die soon they would not remember him as that criminal who is being painted,” declared the son before the rapid deterioration of his father’s health in prison.
