In a route of more than 8 kilometers, the groups of chinchilpos and gamonales began their festivity in honor of their patron Tayta Niño, whom they carried on a walk from the cathedral of Huancayo to the main square of Huayucachi. According to the mayor of this district, Myler Vázquez, everything is ready to receive faithful and tourists.
“Local, national and even international tourism increases by up to 100% and this boosts the economy in the district, generating income for the most humble families”said the mayor, who explained that, after coordination with the National Police of Peru (PNP), the issue of citizen security is ensured during the holidays. “Between 200 and 300 PNP troops will protect security, this has already been coordinated with the PNP General, Danilo Vera,” he concluded.
An act of faith
“My daughter had lung surgery 20 days ago, we handed her over to Tayta Niño and now she is fine here with us, as if she were healthy, 10 days ago she was discharged. “Faith really moves mountains and we carry it from generation to generation.”said Vidal Vila, who has been a member of the chinchilpos for 40 years.
Like him, during the pilgrimage you can hear various stories that refer to how miraculous his Tayta Niño is, one more interesting and surprising than the other, but all about love and gratitude for his Patron Saint.
