The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) notified the Brazilian government reporting the detection of pests and pesticide coating on soybeans exported by five units of Brazilian companies to the Asian country.
Soybean exports from these units to China have been temporarily suspended while the cause of the non-compliances is investigated.
In a statement, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) said that it was previously informed by the Chinese government of the suspension and that actions to evaluate the cases are already underway.
“Mapa expects to receive, as soon as possible, action plans from the companies involved to demonstrate the procedures adopted to avoid new occurrences of non-conformities detected by the Chinese. Likewise, Mapa will intensify inspection actions on soybean shipments from Brazil to China”, says the text.
According to the ministry, based on the actions adopted, the Brazilian government will transmit all relevant information for evaluation by the Chinese authorities and request the revocation of the temporary suspension in force.
“The topic is being treated naturally, considering that non-conformities, such as those indicated by the Chinese side, are likely to occur in routine exports and actions to correct possible deviations are always important for strengthening relationships of trust”, said the Map.
According to the Brazilian government, the suspension of soybean exports from these five units should not have a significant impact on sales abroad of the Brazilian product.
“It is worth emphasizing that other units of the notified companies continue to export normally to China, with the suspensions valid only for the five officially notified units. Therefore, the volumes traded by Brazil will not be affected due to this temporary suspension of these five notified units”, said Mapa.
