China promises Nicaragua to "reaffirm consensus" one year after the reestablishment of relations

Nicaragua and China held a meeting within the framework of one year since the Daniel Ortega regime decided to break relations with Taiwan and recognize the People’s Republic of China as the “only legitimate government.” The meeting was chaired by the sanctioned president of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras, according to publications in the official press.

Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, expressed his appreciation considering that the Ortega dictatorship “made an important political decision to reestablish diplomatic relations with China, based on the one-China principle.”

The communist official said that China is willing to take advantage of the opportunity of the anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, to increase the important consensus between both leaders, “and make binational relations a paradigm of cooperation, mutual support, shared development between countries of different sizes and realities”.

For his part, Gustavo Porras, representing the regime, expressed that “we feel very proud of this friendship between the Chinese people and the Nicaraguan people; our peoples who in Revolution are fighting for their well-being and for peace in our countries and in the world. It is an honor for us and we are sure that this communication will create ties that are already indissoluble; It will strengthen them even more and we will surely have a great future in terms of communication and exchange between our parliaments”.

Also at the meeting was the son of the dictatorial couple, Laureano Ortega Murillo, presidential adviser for investments, before whom Zhanshu thanked for the support of Nicaragua, which signed a declaration condemning the visit of the president of the House of Representatives. from the United States to Taiwan, Nancy Pelosi, on in August of this year.

The Ortega-Murillo regime established diplomatic relations with communist China after breaking ties with Taiwan. Prior to this rupture, it benefited from the various programs and projects that the island carried out in the country.

In addition, the dictatorship ordered the expulsion of the diplomatic mission in Nicaragua, expropriated its assets and handed them over to the Asian giant so that they could install the embassy in the country.
