Wang “stressed that it is particularly necessary to clarify national security boundaries in the economic and trade fields,” the statement said.
The call came a few weeks after sharp increases in US tariffs on electric vehicles batteries for electric vehicles and solar panels.
The latest measures, covering $18 billion in Chinese goods, come weeks before the US presidential election.
Additionally, the United States is planning to ban the entry of connected vehicles that incorporate Chinese and Russian technology, citing national security risks.
Washington has also restricted technology exports to China, such as semiconductors and machinery used to make them.
