China donates equipment to Cuba to pave airstrips and highways

The Chinese government sent a donation of materials to the Cuban Ministry of Construction for the paving of airport runways and highways, the island’s media reported.

The donation contains 93 pieces of equipment and means, including 25 dump trucks, 25 vibrocompactors, compactors and vibroextenders, and six front loaders. It also includes 26 generator sets with lighting towers for work at night, as well as chargers and backhoe loaders, indicated the official media. cubadebate.

“China and Cuba have a special friendship. We are companions on the socialist path, good partners in common development, good models in the solidarity fight against the pandemic and good fighters in strategic collaboration,” Alba Rosa Alarcón, general director of Cuban officials, said at the meeting. Alberto Fis, in charge of the donation on the Cuban side, added that all these means will help “increase the constructive capacity of the Business Group and have a positive impact on the construction, repair and maintenance of airport runways and highways in the country.”

Cubadebate pointed out that the Chinese equipment will be used by several companies dedicated to construction in Cuba at the international airports of Varadero, Camagüey and the keys to the north of Villa Clara and Ciego de Ávila, as well as at the air terminals in the cities of Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.
