China backs the confiscation of Ortega from Taiwan: “It is an act of justice”

Alignment with China: "Ortega seeks resources to stay in power"

The People’s Republic of China gave its support to Daniel Ortega’s regime on Tuesday, December 28, calling an “act of justice” the confiscation of the headquarters of the former Taiwanese embassy in Managua, which will be handed over to the Asian giant by a questioned decision of the Nicaraguan Executive.

El 19 digital, a Nicaraguan official media, has reproduced the statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, which highlight the commitment of Ortega that broke with Taiwan on December 9.

“China highly appreciates Nicaragua’s act of justice that shows respect for China’s sovereignty and its commitment to the one-China principle. The Taiwanese authorities are trying to achieve their sinister program by playing the trick of giving away China’s state assets, which is illegal, null and void and will never work ”, He said Chinese spokesman Zhao Lijian.

The textual statements of the spokesperson, in addition, have been sent to the media in Nicaragua by the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Ortega regime, citing them as a response to the Bloomberg agency that asked about the matter, to which they only added, without any comment additionally, the seal of the Chancellery at the end of the short document.

Lijian argued that there is no “Ministry of Foreign Affairs” of Taiwan, since that country is an inalienable part of its territory, which he considers an unbreakable historical and legal fact.

“In accordance with the basic principles of international law, including respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, all China’s state assets, whether in China or abroad, are owned by the government of the People’s Republic of China. This has been widely recognized throughout many years of diplomatic practice, “said the Chinese spokesman in the first statements of the world power, after the statement of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) last Sunday, through which Ortega communicated the confiscation.

Ortega’s decision is the latest diplomatic scandal of his regime, which was denounced by local and international international law experts as a confiscation, because the goal of the dictatorship was to prevent the donation of the diplomatic headquarters to the Archdiocese of Managua. The regime is not responsible for reallocating or appropriating other people’s property, according to the specialists.

Nicaragua maintained diplomatic relations with Taiwan from 1990 until the end of this year when it decided to recognize People’s China, despite the fact that the island of Formosa was a generous donor and maintained its silence amid criticism from the international community of the repression of Ortega against citizenship, which has been remembered and highlighted by many of his critics at this time when they are the object of the dispossession of the old embassy.

However, experts in international law such as the Costa Rican Carlos Cascante explained that a transition process should have taken place, in which Taiwan should have been allowed to “order administrative-pecuniary matters, both on goods and local personnel that they have hired.”

Taiwan denounced the “trespassing” of your building, which he considered an obstruction to donation to the Church, and described Ortega as a “dictatorial regime”. According to article 45 of the Vienna Convention, which is the one that has governed diplomatic relations with Taiwan, the Nicaraguan Executive had the option of protecting the local assets of the outgoing diplomatic mission, even in a context of war, or establishing custody in the hands of a third State accepted by Taiwan, which did not happen.
