The Port Union of Chile (UPC) and the Front of Central Port Workers (FTPC) agreed to a strike for Wednesday, October 26.
According to Port Portalthe mobilization occurs in the face of the Government’s refusal “to engage in dialogue to make progress in the negotiations that the entities carry out.”
About 6,500 workers would paralyze in 23 ports and terminals throughout the country.
The UPC indicated that “we extend the invitation to other organizations and port workers to fight for fair demands of the port maritime sector.”
For its part, the FTC called on the President Gabriel Boric and the Undersecretary of Labor, Giorgio Boccardonoting that “it is vitally important to comply with the agreements reached at the work table, by virtue of introducing the improvements in conditions agreed upon at the table by the port leaders, to advance in a new agreement”.
