The Chilean Nicolás Zepeda, the only and main suspect in the death in 2016 of his Japanese ex-girlfriend, Narumi Kurosaki, emphatically denied the facts that he was accused of in the murder trial in a court in Besanzón, in eastern France.
“I want to say that I did not kill Narumi, I deny with all my strength the charges against me,” were the first words of the 31-year-old man before a judge in the French city. In addition, he welcomed “the opportunity to respond to a monstrous accusation.”
Nicolás Zepeda is accused of murdering Narumi Kurosaki, who was in France studying the language and had not been seen since December 4, 2016. The accused stated that “Narumi disappeared five years ago and since then he has been a nightmare”.
“I keep Narumi in my thoughts, the immense sorrow of his family, of his mother, there is not a day that goes by that I do not keep them in mind,” he added.
In the audience were the victim’s mother and best sister, Taeko and Kurumi Kurosaki, who listened carefully to the Chilean’s statement, staring at him for the first time, after avoiding meeting his gaze during all this time.
Zepeda began to be tried this Tuesday in Besanzón and the trial will last until April 12. It should be remembered that he was extradited from Chile to France in 2020 and since then he has been imprisoned in solitary confinement. Due to the serious charges he faces, the Chilean risks life imprisonment.
