THE Chile recognized Paraná as a free zone of foot -and -mouth disease without vaccinationwhat does Authorization to import pork of producers from Paraná. THE Official announcement should be made between this Tuesday (22) and tomorrow (23)in the context of Visit of Chilean President Gabriel Boric’s entourage to Brazil.
The decision was anticipated by Chilean Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela.
“We recognize that Paraná is free of foot -and -mouth disease and, therefore, we can receive meat from this very important state from southern Brazil,” said Valenzuela, on social networks.
According to Chilean Minister, the initiative is part of the efforts to reinforce trade relations between the two countriesstrengthening the trade in agricultural products. He also informed that the Chilean authorities are still negotiating the purchase of meat with representatives of other Brazilian federative units that meet the phytosanitary requirements imposed by Chile’s Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG).
THE Chilean recognition is an old demand from Paraná refrigeratorsaccording to the Secretary of Trade and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, Luis Rua.
“This is a very old state of the state [Paraná] […] And soon, soon, Paraná companies should be exporting pork to Chile, ”commented Rua, classifying the announcement as“ very important ”.
In 2024, the state was the third largest exporter of pork among the federative units free of footage.
According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), last year, exports of pork (considering products fresh and processed) totaled 1.352 million tons. The result, 10% higher than 2023, established a new record for the sector, which obtained about $ 3.03 billion with foreign sales.
Of the total volume of exported pork, Paraná responded with 185.5 thousand tonsbehind only Santa Catarina (730.7 thousand tons) and Rio Grande do Sul (289.9 thousand tons).
