This Monday, February 6, the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, received at the Carriel Sur International Airport, in the commune of Talcahuano, the plane called “Ten Tanker” received from the United States to fight forest fires in the South American country.
Boric explained that this is a tanker plane specially designed for fighting forest fires and has a capacity of 36,000 liters of each load, in addition to the fact that its tank system can launch a full load of fire retardant in 4 seconds, between 60 and 90 meters above ground level, in addition to working at about 297 kilometers per hour.
This plane takes 10 minutes to load, but Boric explained that the Talcahuano firefighters set a record in 2019 after filling a similar tank in four and a half minutes.
Boric said that this plane complements the work of the firefighters and Conaf brigade members, who are “a national pride.” The president stressed that they have received international aid; among them 150 Mexican brigade members and 50 brigade members from Spain.
