Hundreds of children and adolescents who live in the Cienfuegos sector, in the western part of Santiago, were benefited this Sunday by a health Daydeveloped by the Children’s Hospital Arturo Grullónin coordination with the Fundación Niños por una Esperanza.
During the day, which lasted approximately eight hours, specialists in different areas of pediatric health participated, consulting more than 400 children.
The initiative in favor of improving the health of infants from the lower income sectors included consultations in general pediatrics, orthopedics, psychology, dermatology, pulmonology, pediatric gynecology, dentistry, vaccines, and tests against COVID-19.
The children and adolescents attended in the company of their parents and in addition to the consultations, they received the application and delivery of medications free of charge, according to their health situation, as well as psychological counseling and other services.
“With this approach to the communities we are contributing to improve the health of our children” said Dr. Mirna López, director of the Children’s Hospital Arturo Grullón.
Meanwhile, Pastor Pablo Ureña, president and founder of the Children for Hope Foundation, said he was satisfied with the authorities’ decision to transfer the center’s services to that community.
“In the 18 years we have been working with the children of West Santiago It is the first time that we receive a day like this”, said the also social activist.
He thanked the participation of the medical staff, the collaboration of the pharmaceutical companies, of the different areas of the center, and reported that for the dental services the equipment used was provided by the same department.
