On May 25, the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzoti, authorized the application of the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, for all minors between 5 and 11 years of age, whose process began to be implemented in Córdoba.
The provincial government announced that, starting today, May 30, all minors between 5 and 11 years old can go to the vaccination centers to receive the first reinforcementsince what is sought with the third dose is to enhance the immune response.
To receive the third dose, the main condition is that at least four months have passed since the last applicationthat is, that the minors have completed the initial vaccination schedule.
The posts enabled for this process can be consulted on the website of the Ministry of Health of the province, so they invite all citizens to receive the reinforcement.
In this regard, Gabriela Barbás, provincial secretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, specified that it is necessary to accelerate the application of reinforcements because “immunity declines and it must be strengthened.”
This, in the face of the fourth wave of the coronavirus that is going through the country and the arrival of the winter season, where it is more frequent for viruses to spread, thanks to the poor ventilation that is maintained in the spaces.
For this reason, Barbás invited the entire population to receive reinforcements, as appropriate, since in the province there is a low percentage of people with the third and fourth doses.
Which vaccine will be administered in children between 5 and 11 years of age
To apply the first reinforcement, the Ministry of Health authorized the use of the RNA platform vaccine, that is, the Moderna and Pfizer/Bio-N-Tech laboratories, which are the only ones of this type available in the country.
According to official data, in the province 120 thousand children are able to receive the reinforcementso they invite parents to take their children to the vaccinations with the DNI and the vaccination card.
