The Congressional Oversight Commission has approved to request Parliament Plenary special powers to investigate José Jerí within the framework of the case Chifagate. With 8 votes in favor and 2 against, the request seeks that the group can assume functions of an investigative commission.
This will allow banking and tax secrecy to be lifted, as well as summoning officials and individuals under warning.
The agreement must be ratified by the Plenary when Congress returns from parliamentary recess. This is supported by the preliminary report that warns of a lack of transparency in Jerí’s unregistered meetings.
The document also points out possible undeclared efforts, as well as contradictions in the versions offered by the president after the dissemination of the Chifagate case, a case that has generated some of the 7 motions of censure against him that will be debated this Tuesday in an extraordinary plenary session.
