The head of the United States Southern Command, Francis Donovanreported this Tuesday, February 24, that he hopes to return to Venezuelan territory in the short term with the objective of leading the implementation of the three phase plan designed by President Donald Trump.

According to the military high command, these actions seek to shore up the stabilization of internal security and the economic recovery of the country.

Donovan noted in X that the collaboration between the US government and Venezuelan authorities is a step towards what he called a “new era” of transition. These statements come after a series of high-level meetings held in the Venezuelan capital, where hemispheric security issues were addressed.

In recent days, the Minister of Communication, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirelaconfirmed that during the meetings held in Caracas the design of a bilateral cooperation agenda.

I indicate that the central points of this roadmap include: Joint combat against trafficking of illicit substances in the region, cooperation mechanisms to address the migratory phenomenon and the use of diplomatic channels to resolve binational differences.

Key figures from the Venezuelan cabinet participated in the meeting, including the head of the executive, Delcy Rodriguezthe Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lópezand the Minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Hair.

These conversations occur within a framework of technical rapprochement unprecedented in recent years. Recently, a delegation from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the United States visited the Maiquetía International Airport to inspect airport security protocols, a step that the aeronautical sector interprets as the beginning of a possible normalization of air connections between both countries.
