Wilson Miñope Carbajal, president of the Regional Coordinator of Public Transport of Lambayeque, maintained the excuse for the rise in LPG is due to the fact that in recent weeks there have been abnormal waves on the Peruvian coasts, which has caused the ports to be closed. Where is the fuel loaded?
“This does not justify that the current aids have raised their prices inappropriately, because LPG is in the stabilization fund, which has been extended until December 31. This affects more than 35,000 carriers at the regional level, who work daily as taxis or buses,” he added.
He assured that the shortage is also being noticed in the capital, Lima, where several queues have formed to recharge fuel. Likewise, it alerts the Peruvian State to intervene through the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) and Osinerming to clarify the reasons why the price of the fuel, because the closure of ports, in his opinion, should not be a reason for the shortage that is currently occurring.
“It is affecting all carriers because we are charging 30 soles more than we used to. The value of LPG has increased by up to 5 soles, depending on the service station, because they have raised the price according to their needs”, he said.
The Navy closed the ports, preventing the ships from unloading the fuel. However, the statement of the armed service is expected so that the population knows when the ports would be opened and, consequently, the price of fuel would be normalized.
On the other hand, Wilson Miñope specified that if the price of LPG does not stabilize, carriers will show their disagreement by holding a protest.
