The price per kilo of chicken live fell to S/7.10 on average in Metropolitan Lima, according to information provided in the Supply and Price Information System (Sisap) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Development (Midagri).

This value is below the S/7.60 that it cost a day before, and is the lowest since August 28 of this year. It should be noted that according to Midagri, currently the per capita consumption of this bird amounts to 58 kilos.
This is a product that is widely consumed at Christmas as an alternative to the traditional turkey, whose supply will reach 1.64 million units by the end of the year holidays. However, turkey meat consumption will only reach 1.19 kilos per inhabitant in 2024.

On the other hand, according to the Mi Caserita del Midagri portal, last Monday, December 16, a kilo of eviscerated chicken in retail markets was on average at S/11.38. However, this product in Surquillo’s No. 2 market is below average and at a cost of S/9.83. Meanwhile, in Plaza Villa Sur, in Villa El Salvador you can find it for S/10.
Other places where you can also get it below the average value are the Ciudad de Dios market, in San Juan de Miraflores (S/10.18), Vecinal Matute (S/10.25), Reynoso in Carmen de la Legua (S/10.57), Central del Callao (10.67), and Lobatón N°1 in Lince (S/10.83).
The place where the gutted price of chicken would be highest is in Central de Comas, where the kilo stands at S/12, similar to that recorded last week.
