'Chicharito' Hernández is left without a team but does not retire

The Chivas de Guadalajara of Mexican soccer announced this Thursday that they have ended their relationship with the World Cup player Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, who played with the team in the last four league tournaments.

“Club Deportivo Guadalajara informs that Javier Hernández concludes his second stage as a Chivas player,” The board of directors of the Guadalajara team announced on their social networks, in which they assured that the bond between the player and the club of his loves will last forever.

He returned to Mexico in 2024

Javier Hernández is one of the main Mexican footballers in this century, in which, after training at Guadalajara, he emigrated to Europe in 2010 to wear the shirt of the Manchester Unitedin which he shone until signing in 2014 with the Real Madrid.

After a brief time at the merengue club, ‘Chicharito’ had good performances in the Bayer Leverkusen from 2015 to 2017, the West Ham UnitedSeville and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Top scorer with the Mexican team with 52 goals, Hernández played the World Cups in South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, but then he was removed from the national team, to which he did not return.

Criticism and ridicule for missing a key penalty

A couple of years ago, in 2024, Guadalajara signed him, but the forward showed a low level, partly as a result of injuries. In the quarterfinals of the Apertura 2025 tournament, he was responsible for the team’s elimination, missing a penalty in the series finals against Cruz Azul.

The error aroused criticism, ridicule in the media and social networks and also calls for the fans to have a good memory and be grateful for the great feats of the scorer with the Mexican team and in Europe, where he raised the name of the country.

Although at 37 years old the player is far from his best sporting form, he does not plan to retire. According to Mexican media, he could continue his career in the MLS or in a Liga Mx team.
