Elio Riera, the lawyer of Andres Hurtado‘Chibolín’, said that he will appeal the request for 18 months of preventive detention that has been filed against his client.

“Yes, (we are going to appeal the preventive detention). We have three days to appeal and we are going to do it. We hope that before the end of the year we will have a favorable ruling,” he said on ‘Magaly TV: La Firme’.

Alberto Fujimori’s former lawyer said that, although he respects the ruling of prosecutor Checkley, he considers that there was no equity when sentencing those involved in the case, since only ‘Chibolín’ was sentenced to prison, while prosecutor Peralta and the businessman Javier Miu Lei remain free.

“I believe that there has been a disproportionality. I believe that the three people should have been subjected to rules of conduct. Not affecting the right to freedom,” he said on ‘Magaly TV: La Firme’.

On the other hand, he assured that he will not abandon the defense of the television host. “No. In no way are we going to abandon the task of defending (Andrés Hurtado). Above all, we are dealing with a human being,” he concluded.
