Another ship chartered by Chevron, the Eagle, arrived in Venezuelan waters on Tuesday with 500,000 barrels of naphtha to improve the crude obtained from Petropiar.

The vessels were sent by the transnational to charter the first shipment of crude oil bound for the United States on Friday, December 30, something that had not happened for four years.

This would be the first action taken under the extended license that the United States issued on November 26 and with which it allows the company to import oil or hydrocarbon products produced by its companies in Venezuela. This came just after the Venezuelan government and the opposition said they would resume political talks in Mexico.

With this permit, Chevron could have a larger role in four Venezuelan oil joint ventures that produce, process and export crude, and bring its oil to the US.
