The candidates for the presidential second round, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro, had appointments this Sunday (9). While Bolsonaro focused on an interview for social media, Lula took a walk in downtown Belo Horizonte.
The candidate for reelection to the Presidency of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, said in an interview that was broadcast by the channels Pilhado and Paulo Figueiredo that he will decide on the increase in the number of ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) only after the elections. If the proposal goes ahead, Bolsonaro said he will need congressional support. “If you can’t rule it out, you can see how it goes. You have to talk to the Senate about approving names as well.
In more than four hours of interview broadcast live on YouTube, the candidate reaffirmed that he will make permanent the Auxílio Brasil in the amount of R$ 600. The measure is not included in the Union Budget for next year.

After a walk through the streets of Belo Horizonte, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said he intends to make a new version of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), with extensive infrastructure investments across the country. “So that we can build a new PAC with the participation of mayors and governors, because we will have to immediately start doing infrastructure works in various fields so that the economy can grow again”, he told the press.
According to Lula, a survey will also be made of the works that are currently paralyzed so that they can be resumed. “We are doing a survey of all these works. And we are going to start the reconstruction of the country by these works,” he added.
The candidate wants to reinforce the role of public banks in financing works and entrepreneurship. “We are going to make the BNDES [Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social] return to being a development investment bank. A lot of investment from BNDES, Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal, because we need to resume Minha Casa, Minha Vida and investment in basic sanitation in this country and the urbanization of slums”, he highlighted.
The candidate also wants to encourage the creation of cooperatives. “We are going to make people who want to organize themselves to work and produce and earn collectively, we are going to make it easier”, he emphasized.
