The Puerto Rican singer, Elmer Figueroa, better known as Chayanne, referred to the use and dissemination of his images in the context of the campaign for the exit plebiscite for a new Constitution on September 4.
Through a statement, the singer requested not to use his image, warning of possible “legal consequences.”
These statements come a day after the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, shared a meme of the singer on his official Instagram account in which he alluded to Approval.
In the image, a photo of the artist can be seen with the following slogan: How to convince your family to vote Approve?.
Although it was published for a few minutes on the network, it was later deleted. From La Moneda they maintained that it was a team error, which was quickly warned and then lowered.

After this, the singer of hits like “I would leave everything” and “Your pirate is me” published a statement on his social networks.
“The artist Chayanne never gets involved in political issues. He never supports political campaigns of any kind. Political issues are only the concern of the citizens of each country. Consequently, we ask the people or entities that are making improper use of their name and image, that they refrain from doing so, since they are incurring an action that could bring legal consequences,” they indicated.
As he realized, the Puerto Rican, through his production company Chaf Enterprise Inc., received a series of alerts about the use of his image on social networks in the framework of the exit plebiscite campaign.
“The best link we have with Chile is Chayanne’s long artistic career, the mutual respect and affection that we hope will continue to be maintained in the same way,” the letter concluded.
