The Unitary Platform, the community that brings together a large part of the Venezuelan opposition, announced the start of “formal talks” with Chavismo to restart the negotiation process that they advanced in Mexico and that has been paused for months.
As detailed by the Venezuelan opposition, “these conversations will include meetings and discussions in order to specify and agreeprovide the necessary elements for the prompt resumption of this negotiation process It shouldn’t have been suspended.”
This occurs a few hours after the US government announced that it would partially lift some of the sanctions imposed on Venezuela under the objective of promoting the restart of the negotiation between both parties.
The Unitary Platform said that they will continue seeking to build a political agreement that achieves the recovery of Venezuela “Through the democratic reinstitutionalization of the country, the celebration of free, fair and transparent elections and the restitution of the fundamental rights of all Venezuelans.”
