A 48-year-old man was charged with the crime Against Life and Personal Integrity, in the form of Femicide, for his alleged link to the death of Astry Tugrí, who disappeared on October 11, 2021. The Public Ministry made it known through the Homicide and Femicide Section of the Chiriquí Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
During the hearing of guarantees, the Prosecutor Hernán de Jesús Mora sustained before Judge Rita Williams, elements that evidence the criminal conduct when pointing out that the DNA analysis carried out on the remains located, near a farm in San Carlos, corresponded to the young woman. Tugrí and that, although the autopsy protocol indicated an undetermined cause of death, the forensic doctor indicated that injuries were observed that prove that the victim died in traumatic conditions.
The prosecutor explained that there are witnesses who say that the victim was last seen in the company of the alleged aggressor when he was going to help her get a job.
After hearing the exposition of the Public Ministry, Judge Williams decided to admit the imputation for the new charge against this person who also remains linked and with a provisional detention measure for the crimes of Sexual Violation, Robbery and Deprivation of Liberty, in detriment of Anabel Valdivia and Viviana Gallardo, also disappeared during the year 2021.
During the hearing, the prosecutor also referred as an element, within this investigation, to the psychological and psychiatric examination carried out on the accused, pointing out that it is a very valuable scientific analysis that has made it possible to determine the personality of the accused. According to this, he is a man with features that do not show any kind of remorse for the actions committed.
The remains of the victim, who disappeared in the Tolé district, were found after proceedings carried out by the Public Ministry, on April 18, 2022, in San Carlos, David district.
The prosecutor recalled that the Public Ministry has three other investigations related to this same defendant.
