Chapa between Alegre and Estigarribia gains strength

On El Independiente’s twitter, we conducted a survey where we asked who would be the best red duo for Efraín Alegre. The winner turned out to be Hugo Estigarribia, former national senator during the period 2008-2013.

The also lawyer obtained 46.4% of the votes. In second place was Pedro Ferreira, former head of ANDE, with 24.7%. In third place, it was; Liz Cramer with 18.7% and finally Sofía Scheid with 10.2%.

Luis Fleitas Vega, political advisor to Efraín Alegre, pointed out that the last meeting between Efraín Alegre and Hugo Estigarribia took place on Tuesday. The meeting took place in Congress to discuss the Itaipu issue.

“Hugo Estigarribia is very much in sync with our ideas of the agreement. He is a very good person. We are delighted that he can form a duo with Alegre”, he pointed out.

Fleitas pointed out that names are being considered, looking for the best to face the next presidential elections.

“I think that Estigarribia will be a good candidate, since being from the Colorado Party, a traditional rival, he is one of those who best interprets the feelings of the new republic that we want. Incredibly, there is almost total harmony with Hugo Estigarribia. It is a luxury for us to have it”, he stated.

Regardless of this situation, the duo has not yet been made official.
