Channel 4 celebrates its 70th anniversary by returning to its essence as RTVD

Santo Domingo. – With the assistance of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, Channel 4 of the State Radio and Television Corporation (CERTV) celebrated its 70th anniversary in style by returning to its essence under the name of RTVD, marking the beginning of a historic transformation for the state channel and fostering the unity of the country’s television industry.

The general director of CERTV, Iván Ruiz, speaking before President Abinader and other guests at the official act, expressed that, in this new path of change, RTVD is directed to fulfill its primary mission of being an educational, informative, cultural television , familiar and entertaining.

“We are moving towards an educational, informative and entertaining television, focused on three fundamental pillars that are the creation of the RTVD Audiovisual Communication Institute together with Spanish Television, the production of historical and dramatic series of values ​​created from our studies and the internationalization of RTVD as President Abinader wants it”, said Ruiz during the event on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dominican television.

The first programming bet will be “Central Noticias”, the renewed Channel 4 news program that will redefine a new mystique of presenting the news events of the country and the world.

“Information will be essential in RTVD’s new commitment and we are going to promote live connections and generate a constant information search turbine,” Ruiz said.

Then he added: “The idea is that all the bells ring and that the only color is the truth, open to all information, it was one of the things that attracted me to come here.”

In the same tenor, he reported the arrival of new programs and talents that will soon be on the screen of RTVD 4.

“We have hired important television figures who are not currently on it, who will be involved in educational, cultural and entertainment issues, which are so lacking on national television,” Ruiz said.

Among these figures will be Lumy Lizardo, Raeldo López, Aquiles Correa and Carlos Almánzar.

He also stated that “we open a door to the new Dominican talents who were chosen through the casting carried out in our facilities, so that they can develop their skills in the different areas of communication.”

Regarding the new programming, he stressed that it will include a version in tune with the current times of the popular children’s program of the 90’s called “Topi Topi”, now under the name “TopiTok”, which will be entirely hosted by boys and girls and with a fun and educational theme at the same time.

In addition, spaces will be opened for new television proposals such as “Luna Llena”, on channel 4 at night; “Balcón, Cine y Cocine”, a bet on Saturdays, where film topics will be discussed; while the main content aimed at young Dominicans will be “My 4th.”, with topics of interest to that population that has turned to social networks.

At an informative level, the state channel will have bulletins every 15 minutes with live units from any part of the Dominican territory, where a news event occurs, to keep the population abreast of what is happening in the country.

In the celebration event, under the production of José Enrique Pintor, a tour of the history of channel 4 during these 70 years was presented, in black and white, showing the beginnings of Dominican television and the debut of music stars such as Joseito Mateo.

Also recognized were the first woman to be part of television, María Cristina Camilo, and George Rodríguez, former general director of CERTV, who marked a before and after in the history of the institution.

Likewise, television entrepreneurs Manuel Corripio, José Armando Bermúdez and Juan Ramón Gómez Díaz received recognition for their contributions to the development of Dominican television.

Ruiz took advantage of the presence of the main managers of Dominican television to emphasize the need to achieve unity between channels that even allows co-productions and joint transmissions that break with the old scheme of competition for a new one of integration and promotion for the local television industry.

“The household box unites us, we do not come to compete, we come to share,” Ruiz emphasized.

Upon his arrival at the state channel, the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, expressed that “I am very happy to be here celebrating with you this relaunch of Radio Televisión Dominicana”, showing his commitment to national television.

The event highlighted the presence of the members of the CERTV Board of Directors, chaired by Ellis Pérez, who stressed that this channel is the cradle of training in singing, acting and television technicians.

He also said that “tonight we remember and celebrate what is the new stage that Radio Televisión Dominicana has ahead of it. Today we are facing a new door that opens for this new generation of young people and children for the development of the various modalities of the different arts”.

Along the same lines, he highlighted the work to which Iván Ruiz has committed himself in “reviving the state channel, Radio Televisión Dominicana.”

Ministers, businessmen, artists, former directors and servants of the institution were present at the television meeting held on Monday, August 1 at the CERTV headquarters, and it was broadcast live through RTVD 4 and its digital platforms, with the artistic participation Niní Cáffaro and Keren Montero, Jandy Ventura, Luis Segura, Víctor Pintor and Diomary La Mala.
