The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced this Thursday the modifications to the death registration process, established in Law 4-23. These changes include new places to carry out the procedure and adjustments to the necessary requirements.
In accordance with article 179 of the aforementioned law, death registration must be carried out within 60 days after death.
In addition, the options for registering the death are expanded, depending on the place of death, the last address of the deceased, the place of burial or, in cases that occur in health centers, in the corresponding official office.
Requirements for registration of deaths:
- ID or passport of the deceased.
- Death certificate.
- Birth certificate of the deceased (if applicable).
- Declarant ID.
The JCE also reported that the administrative procedures of the death delegation of the National District have been transferred to the Civil Status Office of the Second Circumscription.
